
Lahaina is where it's "happening" on West Maui, with night spots,
museums, historical sites, and restaurants. Lahaina was the
original capital of Hawaii in the whaling days. Later the
capital moved to Honolulu on the island of Oahu.
Not to be missed, the
Maui Theater presents
Ulalena The Maui Myth and Magic Theatre in Lahaina,
a spectacular stage production based on the historical legends
of Hawaii.
On the North East Shore you will find
Hookipa known as perhaps the best place in the world for
wind surfing, and European restaurant flair with quaint shops
in the near by town of
Paia.
The MACC - Maui Arts and Cultural Center programs 35-45
events each year; from concerts to art exhibits. Definitely
worth the visit, more than once.
Maui Historical
Society – Housed in the Bailey House Museum in old Wailuku
town in the middle of the island. Features early paintings of
Maui by Edward Bailey and has a quaint little museum shop for
afternoon browsing..
